Channels in CampaignManager represent one (or more) physical display or audio devices on your network. Because more than one machine can tune to the same Channel, the relationship between physical devices and channels can be described as n:1. Channel is a domain level entity. Hence channel can be shared among different projects within the same domain. The user must have appropriate permission to create channels on either domain or project level or both.
To create a channel in the domain, click Channel from Project Explorer under Domain.
This opens the all channels list-view. The list-view is labeled as Channel (Domain) to differentiate from project level channel list-view. Right-click inside the list-view to open the context menu and select Create New or click on the big plus sign in the navigation menu.
Name request pop up will appear.
Then, it will appear Choose project to import current item popup.
A new channel workspace is created. The channel has a unique identification as specified by the Unique ID field. Enter a name for the channel in the Channel Name field. If required, type some description for this channel in the Description section, some notes for this channel can be typed in the Notes section. Default Domain Pin will be assigned by default and will be the same for all channels in the domain, Configuration Pin is different for every channel and is generated automatically. You can also assign categories to the channel. To assign categories, click on Category Settings tab in the ribbon. The channel can now be searched using categories. For more details about categories, please refer to the Category article.
Configuration Pin and Default Domain Pin are used only by CM Android Player. Moreover, with the configuration pin, you configure the android player with the appropriate channel. For more information about CM Android Player, see Android Player section.
The channel is automatically saved and is available in channels list-view. To save the additional changes in the channels, click on Save button (Floppy icon) in the navigation menu.
To create a channel in a project, click Channel icon in the navigation menu.
This opens the channels list-view for the channels that are associated with the project. Project channels are differently named in the home menu.
Right-click inside the list-view to open the context menu and select Create New, or click on the Big Plus sign in the navigation menu.
A new channel workspace is created. The channel has a unique identification as specified by the Unique ID field. Default Domain Pin will be assigned by default, and will be the same for all channels, Configuration Pin by default will be Null, but after save and successful synchronization randomly will be generated. You can also assign categories to the channel. To assign categories, check the category checkboxes that apply. The channel can now be searched using categories. Configuration Pin and Default Domain Pin are used only by CM Android Player. For more information about CM Android Player, see Android Player section.
Click Save from the ribbon to save the channel. Channel will be saved successfully to the project. A copy of the channel will also be created in the domain.
When a channel is created in the domain, if channel import is canceled to project, then you have to add the channel to the project.
To add an existing domain channel to project, select Add existing Domain channel.
Alternatively, right-click on the list-view workspace to open the context menu and select Add Existing Domain Channel.
This opens the list of all domain channels that can be imported to the project. Only channels that do not exist in the opened project will be shown in the list. Select the channel(s) that you want to add to the project and click OK.
The channel will be successfully added to the project.
